restless eye

i ‘ve been quite restless lately; can’t focus, can’t work, my sleeping pattern is a complete mess. hope to find balance soon.

photos above are taken with my fisheye lomo. when i developed the film i realised i used the same 36 shot film within one year’s period. most photos in the film recalled memories i so want to leave behind for ever. above a selection of the happy ones.

i so badly want to dance. anytime, anywhere.

i have also been staring at this photo for long time now.

no winter blues

it is funny how much i have changed in the past years. myself and my preferences; i just don’t want the winter to go away. winter, please, stay with us for a bit longer! i need to feel the chilly breeze on my face; to wrap up in my heavy coat and the wool scarf my mum knitted for me; to long for the sun rays to warm my face.

i just feel deprived of winter. this is the first time in my life i am not looking forward to summer coming.

sandra wrote a lovely post yesterday with wrist worms people photos. im there, too.

i woke up to omar sosa’s iyawo. of course, i had to look the word up. iyawo is a yoruba word and it means wife. {as found here}

i feel a bit better today and can’t stay in bed. i’ m going to hide myself in big clothes and woolly hat {i also have a bad hair day}, grab my camera and head for hallelujah. eleftheria is having a bazaar party with food and music. and i need to socialise a bit.

ill be back with more photos. have a nice weekend!

something colourful

hello again! im back in athens. this morning, i woke up really early and i took the early bus to the capital. joe was waiting for me at the bus station to give me a lift home. i’ m so grateful he’ s been always around for me!

i’ m feeling kind of tired, today. maybe there is a flu on its way. i hope i am lucky enough not to catch it. at the moment, i’ m staying in bed, pampering myself. i am also expecting my dear friend from thessaloniki to spend a long weekend together. so, i have to prepare my place to welcome my guest.

before i go and do this, i have something really unique to share with you. last night, when in bed, i thought of my past travels, the beautiful people and shops i have met and seen.

so there was it; afro art! the most colourful and vibrant craft shop i have ever come across, based in stockholm, sweden.

i still remember my first time in the shop; i stood at its entrance looking around, really mesmerised by its colours! i fell in love with the woven baskets, the beautifully dyed textiles and the upcycled plastic carpets, all made in different parts of the world. for those of you who have been in my athens flat, you probably have noticed the pink plastic carpet i have in my kitchen, made in mali. this carpet is one of my most valuable acquisitions.

the shop also hosts the art of the eco-creative artist regis r vidal. regis is just amazing. check his portfolio here.

time to go. c ya!

stockholm – part 2

södermalm:: until ten years ago parts were considered too dangerous to venture into at night (in swedish terms anyway), but today this trendy, boho part of town tells a different story. transformed into a creative hub, the area named sofo (south of folkungagatan) is littered with cutting edge boutiques, yoga studios and beatnic cafés. think skinny jeans and plenty of black thick-rimmed specs.

stockholm – part 1

i have been looking back lately.

my last trip to stockholm. so many pictures and so much emotion. i ve been wanting to share these photos for long time but never had a moment to do it.

stockholm is a beautiful city, very clean and neat with wonderful cafes and cute shops. almost all flats in the centre are very stylishly decorated and trust me, i think, i looked like a real weirdo looking inside people’s places when walking on the street. almost all places had the head-turning effect on me!

i wish i could visit back again!
